Stop and have a look. There's a full size replica of explorer Charles Sturt's whale boat that he took to sail on the inland sea when he found it!

To see the replica boat is to appreciate Sturt's dedication

It's about as far from the sea as you can get in Australia and is NSW's most remote town, and that makes the story of the first European coming here even more incredible. It's not that explorer Charles Sturt did come that is fascinating, but rather that he dragged a 27-foot, 408 kg whaleboat through the red sand and over the stony ground for about 440 kilometres north of the Darling River. Great story and this replica brings it to life!
