Description

Ruins of the Illamurta Springs Police Camp which was operational between 1893 and 1912. The Police Station functioned for a time as an administrative centre and as a distribution point of rations to Aboriginal people. Located in the Illamurta Springs Conservation Reserve. Pets are not permitted in this reserve. Access is for four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles only. Open All year round, but roads may close after heavy rain. If you take the Finke River 4WD Route you should have a satellite phone, EPIRB and/or personal locator beacon (PLB), extra water and a well-maintained vehicle with backup equipment. No camping is permitted in the reserve.
