Description
OPEN: Wednesday's 1Oam to 2pm, Saturday's 9am to 12noon.
O'Keeffe House is set amongst beautiful gardens. The perfect setting for some Devonshire Tea and to discover the WWII history of the Katherine region. The premises houses O'Keeffe House which was intended as a recreation hut for army officers stationed in Katherine in 1942, it soon became the officers' mess and then the home of Olive O'Keeffe. It is one of the very few structures from the World War II era that have survived in the Katherine area.
It is a classic example of bush technology utilising timber, corrugated iron and flywire.

So disappointed, says it's open on Wednesdays 10-2, we turned up today, Wednesday at 10.45 and it's closed.

Worth a stop. $5 each. Open Wednesday and Saturday. Beautiful lush shaded garden and the house contains interesting crockery and furniture. It is such as energy efficient home. The exhibits and information in the larger shed really complements the story of Katherine. Some great old photos. Thankyou lovely volunteers.

Didn't read the opening times until after the event. Got the day right but closed at 2pm, we were there 2.15!
