Awinya Creek

Campground

Description

The camping area is 8.3km north of Woralie Road on the Western beach, 24.5km north of the Moon Point estuary in Platypus Bay. It is accessible by boat via the Great Sandy Marine Park, and by 4WD along the beach at low tide. You will need to drive across Bowarrady and Awinya creeks. Pack your tent and camping gear and head to this peaceful beach-side camping area. Set among the low foredunes, and flanked by the Great Sandy Marine Park and Awinya Creek, the camping area has views of the sand cliffs of Platypus Bay curving towards Towoi Creek, and the northern-most top of Rooney Point. From your camp you can stroll along the beach, or explore the quiet waters of Platypus Bay by boat or kayak. If relaxation is more your style, sit back in your camp chair and take in the ocean views and vivid sunsets.
