Description

Travelling 54km south of Prairie, the home of the Dumanduma people, travellers will be sure to find a relaxing spot at Kooroorinya Nature Reserve. Although the falls generally only run over during wet season, there is a permanent billabong is located at the base of the falls. This provides an excellent swimming and fishing spot. Keen fishers may get the chance to hook a yellow belly, black bream or catch some redclaw. Be sure to bring along your camera as there are beautiful rock formations waiting to be explored. As there is a water source, bird watching is possible as well as seeing an array of other wildlife. The camp site offers modern toilet facilities, hot showers and fire pits. Drinking water is available. It is suitable for tents, camper trailers, motorhomes, caravans and big rigs. Pets are permitted. It is important to check road conditions before travelling during wet weather and to always carry plenty of water. Campers must call in to the caretaker's office on arrival. This location is also home to the annual Oakley Amateur Picnic Races which is part of Racing Qld's Winter Carnival & are held each May. Check Racing Qld's website for dates.
