Description

Council allows camping free of charge at Macrossan camping grounds off the Flinders Highway, subject to conditions. To preserve the environment and amenity of the area, users of the camping grounds must abide by the following conditions: (Although the Council does not police these rules at all.) A person is not permitted to stay for a period greater than one (1) week in a period of four (4) calendar weeks without the special permission of Council. No camping within eight (8) metres of any buildings, fixtures or other infrastructure. The operation of unregistered vehicles in the camping ground is forbidden. Rubbish must be deposited in receptacles provided or removed from the camping ground. Wastewater must not be discharged in any area of the camping ground. It is an offence to discharge wastewater on this or any other non-licensed lands. The nearest approved wastewater discharge facility is located at the Columbia Poppet Head, Flinders Highway, Charters Towers. Further information can be obtained by contacting the Visitor Information Centre on phone 07 4761 5533. Use of the camping ground by the public is restricted to authorised areas only. Due to the nature of the environment, potential for injuries exists and Council accepts no responsibility to any person for any damage to or loss of property or any injury caused, contributed or sustained by that person whether caused by others, concealed dangers or other cause whatsoever. No dogs except on leash. No firearms or archery. No motorbikes. No open fires.
