Description

Located in Girringun National Park, Wairuna camping area has 3 separate and partly shady sites beside the Burdekin River. Sites are approximately 50m x 50m in size. Camping permits are required and fees apply. Book online. Your booking number must be displayed at your camp site. There are no facilities and no mobile reception. the camping area can be reached by 4WD only. It is accessible for camper trailers. Not suitable for caravans. Wairuna camping area is closed throughout the wet season every year from 1 December to 31 March inclusiveroads into and within the park become impassable for extended periods and are closed to public access. These dates may vary depending on weather and road conditions and closures may also occur after heavy rain events. Toilet facilities are not provided. When toileting, dig a hole, at least 15cm deep, well away from camp sites, watercourses and drainage lines. Failure to do this leads to unsightliness, unpleasant odours, pollution of creeks and potentially dangerous hygiene problems. Sanitary pads, tampons and condoms should not be buried. Rubbish facilities are not providedplease take your rubbish home with you. There is no boat access provided but canoes and kayaks can be launched from the bank. There is a maximum night stay of seven nights. Open fires are allowed (except when fire bans apply). Firewood must not be collected from the national park. Generator use is permitted at your camp site only if the noise level is less than 55dB(A) measured at a distance of 7m from the generator. Domestic animals are not permitted in national parks.
