Description

This free point of interest offers toilets, nice scenery and walking tracks. Special attractions: Glow worms and a colony of rare micro bats inside a beautiful cascading waterfall cavern, as well as bioluminescent fungi in the forest along the walk to the cavern. Natural Bridge section is known for the small, brilliant blue-green lights seen at night decorating the ceiling, rocky overhangs and steep earth banks along the one kilometre circuit. These lights are emitted by tiny creatures that are not actually worms, but the larval stage of a small fly Arachnocampa flava. The colony of thousands of glow-worms found in the cave's roof at Natural Bridge can only be seen after sunset. Do not shine torchlight directly on the glow-worms; they will stop glowing for up to one hourinterrupting their feeding as well as spoiling the experience for others. Dogs are not permitted. No camping or overnight parking allowed.
