Description

4WD access track to the beach in Bribie Island. A vehicle access permit must be purchased and displayed on your vehicle windscreen before driving in the national park and recreation area. Four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles with high clearance and low range function are essential for driving through the national park and recreation area, including on the beach. All-wheel-drive vehicles without true 4WD function and vehicles with low clearance will have difficulty along inland tracks and in soft sand. Drivers should engage and stay in 4WD and adjust tyre pressure accordingly. Vehicles entering the national park and recreation area must be fully road-registered. Two-wheel-drive (2WD) vehicles, trail bikes and motorbikes are prohibited from obtaining a vehicle access permit and entering the Bribie Island Recreation Area. To protect Bribie Island's fragile, narrow spit, vehicle traffic is not permitted beyond the World War II northern searchlight emplacement. On-the-spot fines apply for driving vehicles past this point. Speed limits apply: 30km/h near camping areas, on inland roads and between the Ocean Beach access point at First Lagoon (Freshwater Creek) to 300m north of Second Lagoon (Norfolk Creek). 50km/h to all other beach travel. Domestic animals are not permitted in the national park or recreation area.
