Description

The Tip of Cape York Peninsula, is the northern-most tip of mainland Australia. From the car park, a walking track leads to the beach and over a bluff to a monument, a further short walk brings you onto the rock that is the northern-most tip of mainland Australia. Its time to celebrate youve made it The Tip! The Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR) is the main access route into the peninsula. The road is sealed as far as Laura; past Laura the road is unsealed but graded, and has roadhouses conveniently spaced for fuel, food and rest areas. Your route to The Tip follows the PDR to Archer River, then continues on the Telegraph Road and Bamaga Road (bypass roads) to the Jardine River crossing into the Northern Peninsula Area, and the northern most tip of Australia. 4WD is required. No camping or overnight parking.
