Description
Counterbalance Sculpture
This impressive sculpture was commissioned to acknowledge Loxton's Centenary of Proclamation in 2007.
Each of the sculpture's 10 glass plates represent a decade of the town's history.
The structure points directly north, acting as a large sundial during daylight hours.
At night time spotlights illuminate the glass panels from below.
Avro Anson Crash Memorial
This replica Avro Anson W2481 aircraft display honours the lives of the four RAAF members who died when their plane crashed at nearby Noora, east of Loxton, during a navigational training flight from Nhill to Mildura in 1943.
The sculpture was crafted by local community members Josh and Abe McIntosh.
Loxton Railway Memorial
The memorial, which is situated within the Mill Corner Historical Park, marks the significant role rail played in the Northern Mallee, particularly for broadacre agriculture.
There is a shelter, timeline storyboards, railway lines and phone 'pill box' at the site to commemorate both the railway workers and those early settlers who utilised the service.
