Tod Highway, Cummins, South Australia.

Description

South Australia's Eyre Peninsula has a rich history with the grains industry and the community of Cummins has recognised that with the unveiling of a bronze statue in the local park. The statue is of a wheat lumper and pays tribute to the men who used to carry and stack bags of wheat, often up to 90 kilograms, for transportation. The idea for the statue came following the release of a book by the late Jim Cronin, titled Grain Handling: The Way it Was.
