Casa Pinocchio, 2 Scott Street Branxholm, Tasmania.
Description
The schoolhouse is a historical site, heritage listed. Removed in the 1950's from the nearby village of Warrentina to be used as a meeting room for the CWA ladies. In later years it served as library, doctors surgery, health center, tearoom and art gallery. Many locals still remember being taught in this school building. The current owners lovingly restored the building and are using it as a restaurant/cafe/art gallery. Casa Pinocchio, the house of Pinocchio, still has the original (working) fireplace, fold out windows, horsehair ceiling, wooden walls and floorboards. The roof has been replaced in accordance with the heritage council. The large tree in the car park, a pine oak, was planted by the CWA ladies and grew to be a majestic tree providing shade on those hot summer days.
