Description
Kinglake National Park is the largest national park close to Melbourne. It has 22,360 hectares of tall forests, fern gullies and rolling hills, an extensive network of walking tracks and vantage points offering scenic views.
The Gums Camping Area is situated close to a meandering mountain stream and is nestled amongst tall eucalypts and ferns. This tranquil area is a popular base for relaxing or exploring the northern section of Kinglake National Park. The Gums is ideal for families and small groups, with 18 camp sites of which 5 are suitable for caravans up to 20ft in length (without annex). Each camp site is surrounded by vegetation providing a delightful bush setting.
The Gums campground in Kinglake National Park is closed each year during the Victorian 3rd school term. Dates will vary each year. For further information, please call 131963.
Camp sites are provided with shared facilities including picnic tables and fireplaces. The campground also has one free communal gas barbeque.
Camping fees apply throughout the year and all sites must be pre-booked. Fees are charged per campsite per night, and camping is only permitted on numbered sites with the necessary permit. Each campsite may be booked for a maximum of 6 people and one vehicle.
Dogs, cats and other pets are not permitted in The Gums Camping Area.
Campers are advised to bring their own drinking water and to avoid the use of detergent and soap in the nearby creek. Firewood bags can usually be purchased in the winter in Kinglake.
