Departing Melbourne bright and early at 8:00 am, you'll arrive just in time for the park's 9:00 am opening. Arriving early has many advantages you're there before the large crowd, and the animals are more active in the early morning. Then, for the next 4 hours, you will be able to wander and explore the 70-acre bushland haven to experience close-up encounters with some of Australia's unique and endearing wildlife, including koalas and kangaroos, wombats, emus, dingoes, birds of prey and platypus. Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary is regarded as one of Australia best sanctuaries. It is home to the Australian Wildlife Centre, a hospital that treats more than 2000 sick and injured native animals every year. Set in a beautiful natural environment, it offers a place for people and animals to reconnect with nature from the creek to the canopy and plays a critical role in saving some of the world's most endangered animals. There are various presentations and shows for you to choose from, including the Spirits of the Sky. When you get hungry, you can take advantage of the picnic facilities, with BYO lunch, or there's also a bistro on-site with delicious meals for purchase. You'll depart for your return to the city at 1:15 pm, arriving in Melbourne at around 2:30 pm.
