Description

Private mine road, public access allowed. Large sandhills to get over onto beach. Not suitable for vans. Free bush camps in a natural setting at the mouth of the Maitland river. 4km bitumen then 10km of corrugated dirt road from Great Northern Highway. Plenty of fishing. For access with a van turn left at entrance to Sand Mine. 3km to small tidal River stop at raised land near water for high tide. There are no facilities. Campers must be self-sufficient. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. There are no toilet facilities at this site. If you do not have your own toilet, bury human waste at least 100m from tracks and water bodies. Bury toilet paper or bag and dispose of in a bin once you leave the site.
