Description

A bronze plaque on the cairn read that it commemorates the assistance rendered by Captain Rossiter of the French whaler Mississippi to Edward John Eyre in June 1841. This assistance enabled Eyre to complete the journey from Adelaide to Albany. The cairn was erected by the Esperance Bay Historical Society in January 1974. This is a free point of interest. Dogs are not permitted. No camping or overnight parking allowed.
