Description

Sands and silts containing an assortment of minerals have been layered, compacted and weathered to form this spectrum in stone. Rainbows may be seen in the sea mist. Unique coastal features can be seen at Rainbow Valley from near the car park and from the Rainbow Valley Trail. Rainbow Valley Trail The loop walk links Rainbow Valley car park and Mushroom Rock through the valley and along the top of the cliff overlooking the ocean. complete the whole loop or walk out and back along either the coastal path or through the more sheltered valley. Keep to the trail and beware of loose or wet rocks and very steep sections. Be especially careful in strong winds on exposed rocky sections. Trailside signs interpret botanical and geological features along the way. Distance: 3km Time: Allow 1-2 hours return for the loop Difficulty: Class 4 Dogs are not permitted. No camping or overnight parking allowed.
